Gabriel Habib Sakakini Pasha was a brilliant Syrian noble and businessman who gained the title of one of the wealthiest contractors during his time period. He arrived in Egypt in 1869 to work on the Suez Canal in the digging process in port said, he then moved to Cairo where he constructed one of the most beautiful and enchanting palaces in the capital. He lived between 1841 to 1923.
He had a close relationship with the Khedive as he was responsible for solving the mice problem in the Suez canal by releasing hungry cats and completing the Khedivial Opera. He was awarded a number of titles during his life such as the Ottoman title "Bek" at the age of 39 and the title "Count" in 1901 due to his services to his own community. He built the old Roman Catholic Cemetery and the Roman Catholic Patriarchate in old Cairo.
The Sakakini palace is a golden attraction made in a beautiful art form which is designed in marvelous Rococo which is a style of baroque architecture that was made in the 18th century in France.
